SVMS - WELCOMES DR. TODD CHERTOW, ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON
Susquehanna Valley Medical Specialties proudly announces the acquisition
of the newest member to it's staff. Todd Chertow, M.D. will begin his tenure at SVMS Starting in January 2010.
Dr. Chertow is an orthopedic surgeon specializing
in
hip, knee, ankle and shoulder arthroscopy, minimally invasive and
computer-assisted joint replacements, and sports
medicine.
He is currently accepting patients and immediate
appointments are available by calling 570-784-7300.
Dr. Chertow completed a General Surgery Internship at The Ohio State
University, Columbus, Ohio and an Orthopedic Surgery
Residency at the
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Brunswick, New
Jersey. He completed a Fellowship
in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at The
Hughston Clinic, Hughston Orthopedic Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.
Dr. Chertow
enjoys sports and was the Assistant Orthopedic Doctor for the
Columbus Cottonmouths Southern Professional Hockey Team,
Columbus Catfish
Professional Baseball Team, Columbus Lions Professional Arena Football Team,
Assistant Team Doctor
for Georgia Southwestern State University, Columbus
State University, and served as the Assistant Orthopedic Team Doctor
for
Rutgers University.
Born and Raised in West Virginia, Dr. Chertow recently worked for Hazleton Hospital
and Crystal Run
Healthcare in New York. He is Board Eligible and will sit for his boards in both Orthopaedic Surgery
and Sports Medicine.
Dr.
Chertow prides himself in his commitment to the community in which he
lives. He has volunteered for the American Diabetes
Association, Toys for
Tots, and The Better Way Society.
He resides locally with his Wife and Daughter...and one on the way.
SVMS is very excited to have Dr. Chertow as its
newest member to their ever increasing stable of physicians. Plans are to have Dr. Chertow on staff at Susquehanna Surgery
Center, Berwick Hospital Center and The Bloomsburg Hospital

the 98th President of the
Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (POMA)

Dr. Kuprevich Installed as POMA's 98th President
William J. Kuprevich, Jr., D.O., a board certified family physician from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, was
installed as POMA’s 98th president during the Annual State Banquet, held May 1, 2009, at the Valley Forge Convention
Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kuprevich has served
the association for 35 years. A member of the House of Delegates, the board of trustees, and the executive and legislative
committees, he is a past chairman of District 4. Dr. Kuprevich is chairman of the Committee on Sports Medicine and co-vice
chairman of the Committee on Tort Reform.
During the evening’s
program, Dr. Kuprevich was also presented with the POMA Distinguished Service Award, which is only presented to those physicians
who have truly made an impact on the profession and the association. Dr. Kuprevich was presented with the POMA’s highest
honor for his work representing the association and the osteopathic profession around the world. He served as Chief Medical
Officer (CMO) for Team USA at the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, China, where he was the first D.O. to hold the CMO
position in an Olympic event. He also served as CMO at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he covered
USA boxing and weightlifting; and at the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games in Torino, Italy, where he covered the USA alpine ski
team. Dr. Kuprevich has also served as team physician for several collegiate and high school athletic teams.
A member of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, Dr. Kuprevich
received the society’s Family Physician of the Year Award in 2006. He is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association
